BMTA provided bus services for the public, both BMTA - operated buses and private joint buses. As of October 2023, the services included a total of 6,029 buses, as follows : BMTA divided as Regular buses 1,520 buses, Air-conditioned buses 1,365 buses, Private joint buses(small buses) divided as Minibuses 94 buses, Shuttle in sois 1,488 buses, Air-Conditioned Vans 1,501 buses, Microbuses CNG 61 buses

The following passengers are eligible for bus fare exemptions:
- BMTA bus inspectors
- Buddhist monks and novices
- Mailmen in uniform while on duty
- Holders of BMTA employee ID cards
- Holders of official certificates or medals specified in the Regulation on Bus Fare Exemptions

- The blind with a certificate from the Association of the Blind
- Soldiers and policemen in uniform
